Key responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility is the tax aspects of the implementation of a new SAP ERP system. Experience with SAP (ECC or S/4Hana) or participation in a large SAP ERP implementation project is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Able to provide comprehensive and operational tax advisory support to business operations, covering all tax types (direct, indirect, customs).
  • Able to advise and guide the local CFO and accounting team on all tax matters, including compliance, returns, payments, tax accounting, and tax forecasts.
  • Proactively monitor and analyze changes in tax laws and regulations, providing timely updates, assessments, and recommendations to the business.
  • Collaborate closely with the Zone Tax Director (based in Singapore) and the Tax ERP team (based in Malaysia) to build a case when a deviation from the standard framework is required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of robust tax risk management strategies by identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential tax exposures.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate tax documentation to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Partner with the business on projects and transactions, providing expert tax advice and guidance to facilitate informed decision-making.

Desired skills & experience:

  • Minimum Degree in Finance / Accounting or any relevant field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experiences, with at least 2 years in a supervisory level, preferably from a professional services firm environment.
  • Deep understanding of Malaysian Tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong drives to excel professionally.
  • Demonstrated success in adapting a work environment of professional staff.
  • Team player and able to lead the team to work in a fast-moving and pressing deadline environment.
  • Able to provide useful and timely feedback to staff, and keep management informed of progress and issues.
  • Driven in meeting client expectations and reliable in delivering results.
  • Prefer full or partial member in any relevant professional bodies.
  • Excellent communication and people management / development skills.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Functional knowledge and skills in using Microsoft applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia both written and spoken.
