The Position

The firm is seeking a talented and ambitious qualified non-life actuary with reserving experience, who has worked in or with Solvency II regulated insurance undertakings.
The individual will work closely with an experienced team of actuaries, auditors and consultants on client needs. The role requires a deadline focused individual who is a self-starter with excellent communication skills.

Forvis Mazars in Ireland serves a wide range of insurance companies, of different sizes and business profiles, as auditors and consultants. As a Manager on the actuarial team, you will take ownership of key projects and lead on client and internal stakeholder interactions on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities are likely to include, but not be limited to:
• Working with the audit team on delivery of actuarial specialist support on external statutory and Solvency II audits of insurance clients;
• Auditing the reserves of a wide range of non-life clients by performing your own independent reserve estimates or reviewing client’s methodology and assumptions;
• Reviewing our clients Solvency II technical provisions and Standard Capital Requirement calculations;
• Advising and supporting insurance clients on various challenges such as regulatory requirements, financial reporting standards, emerging risks, processes and control frameworks, underwriting frameworks, ORSA and risk management etc.,
• Developing and implementing solutions (procedures and tools) to deliver efficient and compliant services;
• Developing and providing subject matter expertise on various insurance hot topics;
• Build good working relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally;
• Ensuring regulatory requirements and industry best practice are met in work delivered;
• Business Development activity including participation in new business proposals and pitches to clients; and
• Managing and co-ordinating work of junior staff and providing day-to-day training and coaching.

Ideal Candidate
We would be very happy to consider applications from actuaries interested in working flexibly (e.g. taking the summer off or working part-time as long as they were available to work full-time during our busiest period in February and March).
While this position is non-life, we would love to hear from candidates who would like to broaden their experience to include life as well as non-life.
To be considered for this position you must meet the following criteria:

• Qualified actuary (FSAI or equivalent) with relevant insurance industry experience;
• Expertise in Non-Life reserving across a range of insurance classes;
• Expertise in Solvency II and related regulations and guidance applicable to non-life insurance companies domiciled in Ireland;
• Expertise in Solvency II Capital calculations or IFRS 17 is advantageous;
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and key issues impacting it;
• Be a deadline focused, self-starter who can work independently as well as within a team;
• Be comfortable leading and coaching others;
• Have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; and
• Prior experience in an audit or consulting firm is advantageous but not essential.
