Assistant Legal Manager / Senior Manager – Corporate and Commercial

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and oversee corporate, commercial, and complex M&A assignments, including LDD, transaction implementation, restructuring, and post-completion work.
  • Provide high-level legal advice to clients on a wide range of corporate governance, foreign investment, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Review, structure, and negotiate sophisticated legal documents to support clients’ strategic and commercial objectives.
  • Manage full deal processes end-to-end, coordinating across internal teams, clients, counterparties, and external advisors to ensure smooth and timely execution.
  • Mentor, supervise, and upskill junior and senior lawyers through active coaching, knowledge sharing, and quality control of deliverables.
  • Act as a primary client contact point, maintaining strong client relationships, handling sensitive communications, and delivering practical business-oriented advice.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, including attending networking events, supporting pitch presentations, and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.
  • Support firmwide initiatives, including improving workflows, enhancing legal service quality, and adopting new tools and technologies (including AI) to improve efficiency.
  • Manage team resources, project timelines, and financial performance of engagements.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or higher.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant legal experience (candidates with 8+ years of experience may be considered for a Senior Manager role, subject to qualifications and interview performance)
  • Strong expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and transactional documents.
  • Proven experience managing transactions end-to-end and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, client-handling, and stakeholder management skills; able to confidently engage with senior executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor team members and elevate team performance.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to integrate legal solutions into broader commercial strategies.
  • Comfortable with business development activities and representing the firm at external events.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with AI tools for legal tasks (legal research, drafting automation, data review, etc.).
  • Highly service-minded, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently under pressure and tight timelines.
  • Strong command of English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
