About this position
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Firmwide Group Client Acceptance Procedures
- Primary contact person for group acceptance and independence mailbox and communicate to relevant personnel
- Perform independence and conflict checks
- Perform background checks for new clients and complete AML assessment
- Assist engagement teams in identifying potential conflict of interest or independence issues and escalate the matter to engagement manager and partner
- Evaluate client and engagement acceptance aligns with the firm’s risk appetite and group policies
- Timely updating of internal standard operating procedures and local acceptance forms aligned with the group practices
- Prepare required templates and report to group on periodic basis
- Maintain accurate records for all acceptance and continuance decisions
Staff Independence
- Circulate and maintain specific independence declaration for staff
- Prepare and report to group on periodic basis
Regulatory compliance
- Update firm’s policies based on regulatory changes
General Compliance
- Preparing information for the reporting to the group and or professional bodies
- Liaising with engagement teams for regulatory inspections from regulatory agencies
- Prepare relevant documents for client appointments and resignations, including for regulatory submission
Other ad hoc duties as and may be assigned
Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy, Business or relevant discipline
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in an international public accounting firm or financial services companies.
- Keen interest in the international development of the risk management profession
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound independent judgment including knowing when to escalate concerns
- Good understanding of corporate governance, local regulatory compliance and accounting principles
- Possess good communication in English. Additional language will be an advantage
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and able to work independently
- Organised and proactive with innovative attitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and preparing reports (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.).
