Position: Manager – Audit Quality

Key Responsibilities
SoQM Oversight & Quality Management
- Support the Non-financial Assurance Lead in the operation and ongoing monitoring of the ISQM (UK) 1 framework.
- Contribute to the identification and assessment of quality risks and the design and implementation of appropriate responses.
- Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the firm’s quality management system and identifying opportunities for enhancement.
Quality Monitoring (Non-Financial Assurance)
- Support the Non-financial Assurance Lead in delivering the internal quality monitoring programme across assurance engagements.
- Manage annual file selection and reviewer allocation, ensuring appropriate coverage and independence.
- Coordinate monitoring activities, including file reviews, walkthroughs, and inspections.
- Track progress against timelines, follow up on outstanding reviews, and resolve scheduling challenges.
- Collate findings, identify key themes, and support preparation of reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of review outcomes, deficiencies, and remediation actions.
Remediation & Continuous Improvement
- Support the Non-financial Assurance Lead in developing and tracking remediation plans for identified deficiencies.
- Monitor completion of actions and ensure timely resolution.
- Identify opportunities to enhance assurance quality through process improvements and sharing of best practices.
Methodology Consultation & Technical Support
- Respond to methodology-related queries submitted through the helpdesk, ensuring alignment with the Assurance Manual and relevant guidance.
- Support the Non-financial Assurance Lead in maintaining consistency and quality of consultation responses.
- Monitor consultation timelines and ensure queries are addressed promptly.
- Escalate complex or higher-risk queries to the Non-financial Assurance Lead or technical specialists as required.
- Analyse consultation trends to identify areas for additional guidance, training, or clarification.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Work closely with UK-based assurance teams, reviewers, and the central SoQM team across Ch1 and Ch2 to support a coordinated and consistent approach to quality.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across geographies.
- Provide constructive challenge and support to drive improvements in engagement quality and methodology application.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support updates to methodology guidance, templates, and tools.
- Contribute to the development of training materials based on monitoring findings and consultation insights.
- Assist with internal reporting on quality trends, consultation volumes, and emerging risks.
- Promote a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement across the non-financial assurance practice.
- Provide ad hoc support to the Non-financial Assurance Lead on quality, methodology, and risk-related initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant experience in audit, assurance, or quality monitoring (Big 4 or large professional services firm experience preferred).
- Understanding of ISQM (UK) 1 or similar quality management standards (desirable).
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively with international stakeholders in a virtual environment.
- Confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders constructively.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to manage and deliver complex tasks.
