Audit Senior – Public Sector and Social Sector

As an Audit Senior – Public & Social Sector, you will contribute to high‑impact audit engagements serving government bodies, not‑for‑profit organisations, charities, educational institutions, and other public‑interest entities.

You will lead key audit sections, collaborate closely with UK engagement managers, and ensure all work is delivered to the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and professionalism. This role is well‑suited for individuals who are passionate about purpose‑driven work and want to contribute to building trust and accountability across the public and social ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

As an Audit Senior, you will:

• Deliver high‑quality audit work in accordance with firm methodology and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Support UK-based engagement managers by supervising and coaching offshore team members within the extended audit team.
• Participate in planning meetings, walkthroughs, and post‑engagement debriefs to improve future audit quality.
• Manage and complete assigned audit sections within agreed timelines, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
• Track progress, manage deadlines, and provide regular updates on audit status to engagement leaders.
• Maintain audit quality through timely clearance of review notes and consistent adherence to documentation standards.
• Act as a reliable point of contact for engagement managers and clients, ensuring clarity and strong communication.
• Draft and prepare audit completion documentation including audit opinions, letters of representation, and reporting for governance bodies.
• Provide coaching and constructive feedback to junior staff members.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with both onshore and offshore teams.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualified ACA / ICAI / CA / ACCA (or equivalent).
• Experience leading external audits from planning through completion.
• Exposure to Public & Social Sector audits (e.g., NGOs, government entities, educational institutes, charities) is an advantage.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102 / IFRS.
• Experience supervising, guiding, and developing junior audit team members.
• Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with curiosity, professional scepticism, and strong problem‑solving ability.
• Self‑driven, responsible, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to delegate effectively while maintaining quality oversight.
