The role is aligned to support the Audit Quality Support Team (AQST), which includes the Impairment Centre of Excellence (CoE) team, is a vital component of our audit practice. AQST is responsible for:

  • Designing and maintaining methodologies and tools that ensure compliance with all applicable auditing and ethical standards, as well as other regulatory requirements for audit and assurance engagements.
  • Providing foundational support through policies, reviews, coaching, procedures, templates, guidance, and comprehensive training.
  • Supporting the audit service line in the consistent delivery of engagements that adhere to the firm’s established methodologies and associated risk management policies and procedures.

Job Purpose

As an Audit Quality Manager, you will primarily contribute to our expanding Impairment Centre of Excellence (CoE). This role is critical to delivering high-quality audit services, particularly concerning the impairment of non-current assets – an area characterized by significant estimation and judgment for our audit clients, and one that consistently attracts regulatory focus.

In this capacity, you will play a key role in advancing the firm’s broader quality initiatives, ensuring adherence to the highest standards across our audit practice.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert: Representing the UK firm as a leading authority on the impairment of non-current assets.
  • Driving Impairment Audit Excellence: Leading or supporting the continuous development and delivery of impairment audits, including maintaining and updating UK Forvis Mazars’ audit guidance, tools, templates, and training materials specific to non-current asset impairment.
  • Providing Expert Consultation: Responding to technical consultations from the audit service line regarding the auditing of non-current asset impairment for audit clients. On occasion, this will involve providing direct support to audit teams in reviewing their completed impairment work.
  • Proactive Development Monitoring: Remaining current with all audit and assurance developments to proactively assess and recommend how the firm can best adapt to forthcoming changes in standards and regulations.

 Ideal candidate

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience within audit and assurance, preferably gained at a Big 4 audit firm.
  • Qualifications: Holds a recognized professional accounting qualification (ACA / CA / ACCA or equivalent).
  • Technical Expertise: Possesses strong practical and theoretical knowledge of UK auditing, ethical, and accounting standards, including IFRS and FRS 102. A solid understanding of applying IAS 36 and Section 27 of FRS 102 is essential.
  • Passion for Quality: Demonstrates a genuine passion for audit quality and a commitment to fostering the development of audit teams’ knowledge and assurance skills. Experience in quality management, risk assessment, or compliance within a professional services firm.
  • Current Role: Currently operating at a Manager or Assistant Manager level within a similar technical support role or in external audit.
  • Work Management: Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple work commitments effectively, and consistently meet targets and deadlines.
  • Leadership & Client Management: Experience in managing audit teams and client engagements, specifically in relation to the audit process for impairment of non-current assets.
  • Influence & Challenge: Strong ability and willingness to constructively challenge and influence both senior individuals and peers.
